The Mad Recycler turns 27! Want to have a tea party? Thank you Miriam!

Today is my 27th Birthday and so far I am having a wonderful birthday.  I had a show at the Canton Middle School on Saturday that was a lot of fun and got to meet some great people.    Yesterday I had the exciting news of being in both the Watertown Times and Ogdensburg Journal for my recycling creations.  I also got some of my birthday presents a little early :).  The BF couldn't resist giving me his and it is amazing, but I won't be sharing it until tomorrow as I am still learning how to use it.

Last night, I got a gift from my dear friend, blog reader, and supporter, Miriam.  I had posted a blog a long way back now about Alice in Wonderland China.  Miriam got me the tiered snack tray and the small espresso/tea set.  I am totally in love with them.  I want to have a tea party just so I can use them!

It is even more whimsical than in the photos!  I absolutely love it!

This wonderful font is named "Beyond Wonderland" and can be download for free at Acid Fonts.

Most of my weekend is going to be spent gearing up for my first craft show at the Massena Winter Carnival. Stop by and check out some of my creations in person!

Alice in Wonderland China Patterns

If you haven't guessed by my Mad Hatter costume, I love Alice in Wonderland it was my favorite Disney movie growing up and on occasion I will still watch it today.  Yesterday when searching for more china pieces to match my Rose Chintz.  I found Johnson Brothers has a pattern called "Alice in Wonderland".

Paul Cardew also makes an interesting set, which I think I like more than Johnson Brothers,

Such adorable patterns, but I love my Rose Chintz and I'm not sure the BF would like an Alice in Wonderland kitchen but maybe someday :).  Although the teapot would be an adorable piece just to have on its own!

Happy Halloween, the "Happy Apple" and the Mad Hatter

Have a happy and safe Halloween!  I will be spending my weekend refinishing my latest antique shop finds.  The items in the picture below I purchased at an antique shop for a amazing total of $17.  It was like American Pickers north country edition.  Of course I had to make a trip to Lowes and I managed not to scare anyone.  I think they are getting use to me! All three pieces need work but are totally salvageable.    The dresser is cherry, the headboard is oak and I'm not sure what the cupboard door is but it was heavy.  I am hoping to turn the cupboard door into a headboard for our bed!  Look for finished photos hopefully next week!

Also in the above picture is the Mad Hatter hat I made to go with my costume.  I will share more pictures of the finished costume next week.   At first we weren't going to go out and then I found out yesterday we would be going, so it was a "mad" dash to put it all together with items I already had in the house, but I think it turned out amazing.

I just wanted to share the "Happy Apple" I added to my t-shirt yarn iPod cozy!
